Boyhood Reimagined
NEW BOOK
Stories of Queer Moms Raising Sons
“There is no better time for this book. Boyhood Reimagined offers a roadmap and reassurance to any parent trying to raise a boy who is ‘loving, nurturing, and collaborative.’ The essays and interviews in this book give me hope that as a society we can, indeed, raise sons who embody healthy and happy masculinity and become role models for us all!”
-Kate Hopper, author of Ready for Air: A Journey Through Premature Motherhood and Use Your Words: A Writing Guide for Mothers.
Hi! I’m Gail, and
I write about transformative relationships.
Gail Marlene Schwartz is hard at work concocting parenting strategies that make children allergic to Minecraft, Pokemon, and the expression “Let’s Go.” She co-founded the magazine Hotch Potch Literature and Art, and her short stories have received honors from The Malahat Review, The Tishman Review, and Lilith. She lives in Ottawa with partner, visual artist Erin Needham; son, Alexi Gagnon-Schwartz; and owner, tortoiseshell Miss Brisket.
Passionate about relationships, freedom, and the secret to a spit-up-free wardrobe, Gail writes about parenthood, identity, immigration, social change, illness and healing, breaches and repairs, and food (always, food). She knows that magic and possibility lie in the shades of gray offered by art, and she strives to get back there when her inclination toward absolutes kicks in.
